Today I’d like to share with you the immediate availability of Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for use with the Windows 7 Beta and more roadmap information around App-V 4.6.We’ve been listening to customers who want to see us support Windows 7 early so they can move ahead with their application testing in preparation for their enterprise deployments. Today, we are pleased to announce the immediate availability of App-V 4.5 CU1 for the Windows 7 Beta. As you know, we have a high bar for application compatibility between Windows Vista and Windows 7, so you might be wondering why we need an update of App-V specific to Windows 7.

So foray into virtualization continues with the product, this plays nicely into Microsoft’s  hands as it begins the mammoth task of promoting Windows 7.

What App-V does is give you the ability to create a virtualized version of an application and then test it within the Windows 7 environment.

Whilst most people would say   (previously known as Thinstall) and are more mature, App-V deserves and an opportunity, and that opportunity is best started in a lab or test environment.
